Description

Scope: The investigation of wave propagation in non-uniform transmission lines is common to many engineering situations. This book presents and develops the mathematical tools required to effectively examine and analyse propagation processes of waves of various natures using the cross section method, in artificial and non-artificial waveguides. These techniques are used in the solution of practical situations in various fields, such as plasma heating in nuclear fusion, materials processing and radar and satellite communication systems.

Book readership

Electrical and electronic engineering and physics; especially electromagnetics.

Level

Academic; reference for research engineers and graduate students.

Book contents

1: The method of small non-uniformities; 2: The cross section method; 3: Special cases cut off cross sections and resonance frequencies; 4: Straight non-uniform waveguides; 5: Bent waveguides; 6: Mode converters with periodically non-uniform waveguide walls; Index.
