O.K. Here's one for you all.

Q.1. Which unnatural event before 2012, indirectly connected with electricity, caused a change in the speed of the Earth's rotation. It is reported that the Earth's rotation was slightly slowed down because of this event.

Clue. Large amounts of Oxygen and Hydrogen were involved.

Q.2. Where did this event occur?

Given the recent postings, I imagine that this is the flooding of somewhere to create a hydroelectric project, slightly moving the earth off- axis, so shifting the poles and making the earth run 'lumpy' and a bit slower. (like washing machine with unbalanced load, but to scale in the way of cement lorry unbalanced by a spec of dust.)
I;m not sure which one if this guess is right but as an example, the Chinese Three Gorges Programme, as an example, moved the poles a cm or so, and was estimated to lengthen the day by about 50 nanoseconds. The Boxing day Tsunami of 2004 was a natural event of comparable disruption.

These effects are small,as part of the normal pattern the earth slows down by a couple of milliseconds every century due to the energy lost to daily tides and stirring the weather - the energy is dissipated/ used to move sand around, eroding cliffs and mountains

To put that in scale, 5million years ago, pre-cambrian world had a 20 to 21 hour day more or less, in big handfuls the earth is losing half an hour every million years in the long run.

And Mike HAS IT AGAIN. Well done and thanks Mike. The Three Gorges' Dam water release was the cause of the slowing of the Earth's rotation slightly. Location on the Yang si river in China. The dam is huge.

Video lecture.

well if you will post it in the same day as a post about the environmental and social costs of dam building, it becomes more of a psy ops question as to what is the current Zietgeist.
(idea or spirit of the current time)
Note of course that some water moving projects would have very significant environmental costs if not complete as well, so there is a balance to be found. Even without man nudging it along, nature manages some impressive desertification and extinction events, so 'leave it to nature' is sometimes not a sensible option either.

Note that while the 3 gorges dam displaced more people, the Itaipu is bigger and generates more electricity, although building it did submerge one of the worlds largest water falls.
