A lady who runs a collectors club at a local school has been giving out certificates for many years to the kids who have built up a collection such as a postage stamp collection, the kids then take the certificate home to keep.

She has now been told she can only put their first name on the certificate, not their surname, despite it only being taken home by the kids to show their parents, because of GDPR.

Sometimes you don't know if you should laugh or cry.

We've had the GDPR for over a year now, just, and reallyby now all this sort of nonsense should have been sorted out.
Of course you can put someone's full name on a bit of paper, especially if they want you to.
She should also need access to the club members parents/guardian's names and addresses as well, just in case one is poorly and needs collecting early, unless there is another person with instant access to that info for such events.
There are a great many situations where knowledge of personal info is needed, and so long as it can be justified, and easily verified what information is available and to who, there is no issue.

regards Mike
