Hi

I have to replace some wall lights at a golf club, the cables are buried in the wall at a depth of less than 50mm my question is do I have to install an RCD on the circuit or not as its just a replacement of light fittings I am not altering the wiring etc

Regards

If it's simply replacing the fittings and not adding any new concealed wiring, I'd say yes, you're OK to do so. By all means draw the situation to the customer's attention and suggest it might be a good opportunity to bring things up to date, but if the decline then just make a note in the 'Comments on the existing installation' box on the cert.
