I found yet another faulty R.C.D. today. It just would not trip off when the test button was pressed. Not branded with any known company name at all. A T.T. installation so it could have been serious.

Or could it?

Wooden floored holiday chalet. Wooden and plaster board walls. No gas. Main water pipe plastic. No extraneous-conductive-parts. Earthing could probably be eliminated totally with little risk. Now that would save money.

You just said it didn't trip, so quote to change it or walk away.
Quite easy

I might be on your patch tomorrow, do you want me to put a tester on it?

So did it trip when tested under no load?
I've had an old Wylex done that before, tested fine , but would not trip when pressing the button.

The R.C.D. was changed as it is the site owner's responsibility and the R.C.D. operation is not confirmable by the users of the holiday chalet. I don't mess about I go for the safest option. It was cheap and nasty anyway.

Are you coming to overcast Norfolk sparkingchip? It is dry but cool now. A bit too cool for a swim in the sea.

And yet another faulty one on the same site. Not operating on Test switch. Replaced. The R.C.D. was marked CG 2263030. It looked cheap and nasty.

Avoid em.
