I believe this discussion was originally trying to establish what components to include in a build it yourself electric vehicle charger kit to sell on EBay with the final installer expected to take responsibility for the design.

If you are building it yourself at a low level, you need something like this:
https://www.vacuumschmelze.com/en/products/cores-components/applications/current-sensors-transducers/acdc-sensitive-differential-current-sensors-di-sensors.html
to provide the DC protection.

However, if you are making a kit with all the electronics in an off-the-shelf module, you need to wait for the manufacturers of that module to build in the DC protection.
