Scope and objectives

The scope of this network is to capture and disseminate information on automotive electronics and traffic management systems to the wider engineering community. In particular technologies that will reduce the driver workload, increase safety, vehicle performance and reduce emissions.  Key technologies include:

ITS UK
The Institution is a member of ITS UK via the Automotive & Road Transport Systems PN.

Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety
The Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) is an associate Parliamentary Group. Its objective is "To promote transport safety legislation to protect human life". Its aim is to advise and inform members of the House of Commons and of the House of Lords on air, rail and road safety issues. It brings together safety professionals and legislators to identify research-based solutions to transport safety problems having regard to cost, effectiveness, achievability and acceptability. The Institution is a member via the three transport PNs.

Formula Student
The Institution is a co-organiser of Formula Student along with the IMechE and the SAE. Formula Student is a competition for students to design, build and race a single seater car. For more information and sponsorship opportunities please contact the ARTS PN Manager.
