2004 Power Seminar
On 19 August 2004 two power specialists addressed 135 people at a combined IEE/ESR (Engineers for Social Responsibility) Seminar on the topic of Future New Zealand Power Supply. Bryan Leyland, Power Consultant, and Mike Underhill, CEO, WEL Networks Ltd and previous Chairman of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), had differing approaches to solving our future power problems but there was adequate agreement between them to convince the participants that there is a significant issue to be resolved - there has to be some long term planning soon or we will have power restrictions in the future.
