Ms. Jane Soderblom

Talk in BERGEN 31.03.2000

Graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Plymouth. Jane has been working with ABB for nearly 13 years in 5 different daughter companies in 4 countries; Jane began work as a commissioning engineer with ABB in England. During this time Jane commissioned process control equipment and drives at steel works, aluminium plants and newspaper printing mills. Plus radio therapy equipment in hospitals. Jane moved into the SCADA business with my move to ABB in Switzerland in 1990, where Jane was responsible for project data engineering with the previous generation of large scale central systems.

After moving to Germany Jane worked with smaller SCADA systems. These were 'one man' projects from system design, through implementation to commissioning. Applications were typically German Stadtwerke, using one system for the control of electricity, gas, water and sometimes also district heating networks. Export projects, however, included an oil pipeline in Siberia and the power distribution networks for both the London Underground Central Line and the newly electrified railway to and from Kuala Lumpur. Jane is now involved in the remote terminal unit business within ABB. Jane is an ambassador for the Norwegian product within the company and help less experienced offices with system configurations and pricing during the tender/bid phases of projects.
