Remember me

Ian Gillis

Ian spent his working life as a Radar Systems Engineer for what started as Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Company, elements of which still exist in BAE Systems. His speciality was air traffic control and military display systems, including IUKADGE. He has travelled widely on business, including prolonged spells in South Africa and Australia. He was Requirements Manager for the JORN (Jindalee Over-the-Horizon Radar Network) in Australia from 1991 until he took early retirement in 1998. He has now realised his life-long ambition to live in rural South-West France.

Ian has formed the group Engineers of South West France which seeks to coordinate and inform those engineers of all disciplines who are remote from the bright lights of Paris. He also runs an ex-pat group and has a personal website which portrays some of the trials, the tribulations and in particular the triumphs of moving to France.
